Title
Nestled in Japan’s Okayama Prefecture lies Yunogo Onsen, a peaceful haven with a rich history and soothing hot springs in the city of Mimasaka. Visitors can stay in ryokans, traditional inns, and enjoy authentic Japanese hospitality. These cozy accommodations offer cultural experiences like traditional dining and tatami mat sleeping. Several lodging options provide rooms that come with private open-air baths attached.
Transportation
Take the Super Inaba express train from Tottori or Kyoto to Sayo station, then change to a local train to Hayashino station. The total cost is around 4.000 Yen (from Tottori). A free shuttle is provided from Okayama station by some Ryokans with a limited schedule. I used the JR Kansai Wide Pass to save a lot of money for all my trips in the Kansai area, including Okayama and Yunogo Onsen.
My recommended stay: Yunogo Bishunkaku Ryokan
At Yunogo Bishunkaku Ryokan you can:
- Enjoy a private open-air bath directly on your room veranda!
- Try the full-course dinner: it includes fish, meat, all kinds of local vegetables, and even a dessert, for a total of more than 9 courses!
- Sip a cup of green tea while watching nature all around!
- Choose your own Yukata: the Ryokan offers various colors of Japanese robes and you can choose your one!
