Tokyo, Shibuya Covered In Snow!
Tokyo, Shibuya Covered In Snow!
Shibuya
I looked at the window today and I was amazed to see that it was snowing outside! Perfect opportunity for a walk outside and do some video shooting!
In fact Tokyo does not get a lot of snow during the year, and this was a really warm year in japan. For this reason, it was very surprising to see snowing!
First I decided to go to Shibuya crossing and I realized many people went there for the same reason: to enjoy the snow and take pictures/videos. It was so fun crossing Shibuya Scramble with so many people and the snow! In fact everyone was crossing the street with their phone in their hands and taking pictures or videos!
The statue of Hachiko was also covered in snow, giving me the almost unique opportunity to take a picture of snowy Hachiko (you can see it on the cover of this post)! After that, I walked around Shibuya small alleys to enjoy the reflection in the snow of the many neon lights of Shibuya restaurants and shops. Snow definitely added a layer of magnetism in a part of the city that is already magical.
Jiyugaoka
After Shibuya I headed towards Jiyugaoka in Meguro, where the amount of snow was much more impressive. I climbed the stairs of the Jiyugaoka Kumano shrine and found myself alone in the snowy shrine immersed in a lethargic atmosphere. This small temple is more than 800 years old and it futures a sacred tree, a small open-air theatre for events, and even a miniature bamboo garden! I have visited this shrine many times, but seeing it covered in white was amazing!
On the streets around Jiyugaoka, I was surprised to see people had already created snowman along the street! Tokyo really becomes amazing during snow days!
