Aboard Japan Sleeper Train Sunrise Seto
Aboard Japan Sleeper Train Sunrise Seto
I felt lucky to have a chance to spend a night aboard the mythic Japan sleeper train Sunrise Seto. I boarded in Takamatsu at 21:00 (departure at 21:26) and arrived in Tokyo at 7:08.
The total cost was 22.600 Yen, not much different than the cost of a Shinkansen train.
When I got on the Sunrise Seto sleeper train, I felt super excited. The train was cozy, and I was ready for the ride. As it started moving, I looked out the window and saw towns passing by.
The room is small but very elegant and clean. I was provided with a pillow, a blanket, and a pajama that looked like a kimono. The room had a hanger for clothes, a trash bin, and an electric socket. You can control lights and heater from the control panel near the bed.
The train also offers clean toilets, private washing basins, a view lounge, and even a shower! You need to purchase a shower card on car 10 to use the shower. The cost is 330 yen. The shower cards become sold out very quickly so you need to get one as soon as you board the train at the first station!
But what blew me away was the view outside. The hills and rivers looked so pretty, especially at night. I felt lucky to see Japan’s countryside from the train window. I also got a chance to see Osaka and Kyoto at night, they felt almost empty.
When we finally reached Tokyo in the morning, I didn’t want the journey to end. But I knew I’d always remember the amazing time I had on the sleeper train Sunrise Seto train. It was an awesome experience that I’ll never forget.
